Time to get my greencard :D

This is the final sale is to be held, as part of the "You do what for a living?" section of the my Greencard application. The previous two sales went fantastically well, and we're nearly done with the second queue.

In this sale, we are offering 50 costumes at a sale price of $2300 US. This excludes complexities such spots/stripes/tattoo/wings/muscle suits, but a comparable discount will be applied if such additional fanciness is desired. :)

A 2-3 colour critter is what we consider 'normal'. But we're flexible, give us your ideas, and we'll make it happen. Fully custom, fully tailored, built with many photos sent so you can see how things are coming together and give us your input/approvals.

No money is being asked for at this time. To book a potential position in our queue, a 'Note of Intent to Purchase' will be emailed to you. Fill this out and return it and you're done! We will only ask for a deposit when it comes time to start picking out and ordering materials, and officially begin your costume. Photos and comments will be sent back and forth as we work, so that we can get your feedback and approval as the work progresses.

The latest additions to our queue have already had the discount applied as a measure of good faith. ^.^

So, if you are interested, please send us an email or note, and we will reply in the order which things are received.

FC Photoshoot
How about an Arend photoshoot at FC? Everyone else is doing it, and I think Whitey needs some new photos for his website anyway!

If we can't find a photographer, I should be able to volunteer my camera and hopefully someone to use it. I've got a decent enough digital SLR setup :3
We'd need a time/place too, that is, if there's interest in doing this.

Arend Studios Email issues
Apparently the email link from the studio website has been transmitting to the void. So if you've used the online contact form recently, and not heard a reply, please email me directly at sscharf@arendstudios.com.

Appologies if I've missed anyone, we only just caught the bug

Omg spring clearance sale!
A bit of a stunt, everyone likes stunts :)

Long story short, I and petitioning to move myself and Arend to California. So, I am gonna prove to the gov't that the furry fandom is a legitimate source of work for the various artists in it.

To do this, we're having a moving sale! :D

You want a suit, then sign up now. No deposit required! No cash, no obligation other than signing a form that says you will want a suit sometime in the next 3 years. Additionally, you lock in this years prices on suits ($2550 for a full, $1650 for a partial) and can get your suit later at your leisure. No hassle, no fuss, no cash needed. This sale will be open to the next 50 or so commissions.

My plan is to list all these new commission in the cue for Arend USA, and show the gov't that the furry fandom is serious business :D I'll keep plugging away at the current cue, then start pulling from the new US cue as needed.

So, you want a new suit, but don't wanna put down cash and wait a year until it actually gets started? Save your money -and- get yourself in the cue. Simple. :)

Drop me an email and I'll start setting things up! :)

New piccies ^.^
Off to Rappy Raptor, another EastCan fur, woo. He's blue! Tried something new with the tail as well. Kinda halfway between delrin and foam with a dusting of polyfill on top. Bake at 400c for 30 days and done.

FC Photo Shoot
As a bit of a sendoff for our 2nd to last year at the doubletree. ^.^ *grins* We're doing a bigger set-up shot. The idea is to get a more 'real life' scene of the suits lounging and having fun at the pool. No swimming in suit! But, props such as towels, swimtrunks, beachballs, rubber duckies, pool toys etc etc. are greatly encouraged.

The photos will likely be in 2 segments. A traditional 'stand in a bunch' shot on the stairs leading to the pool area....and then the more action style scene of all the suits around the pool. Big thank you to kreggan for being the photographer! (an anyone else who wants to join in behind the lenses)

Photos should go quick, and afterwards I'd like to open the pool scene up to everyone who wants to join, regardless of who made your costume. Could be lot of fun, could be like herding cats. We'll see how it goes :D The plan is to be done quick, so folks can get out of suit, shower, and find dinner.

New piccies ^.^
Well, as so many have been lately, this is a "Secret" suit; but I will at least show a teaser pic. I'd say how I really liked how the costume turned out, but the point is moot since I can't show anything more ^.^ FC '08, yet another to look out for n play "Guess that suiter"

5 more to go. Wheeeeeee.

A purely hypothetical pole
Poll #1108313 You wanna Bananna?

How many would be interested in getting a costume if you could have a fursuit done within the next 2-3 months. (This is over and above those who already have costumes lined up for the next 2-3 months.)

Is 2-3 months of lead time a good ammount. To short? Long?

I'm asking as a way of getting some metrics done here as I have another major project in the works for the studio, so am trying to guage how many suits the fandom wants, to make sure I'm meeting up with demand.

Sneaky peeks
Been doing more corporate stuff atm (Rickers and Tourism New Westminster atm) and a few suits that are all "hush hush" for FC (fEK n Jer done, bunnies underway).

Here's a work in progress pic of a husky that's goin off to Belgium. Kinda fiddling about with the expression atm. Doin things a bit different on the heads lately as I've been tinkering with some items here n there and making things both easier for me, n better built overall. We'll see what folks think about the new variations. :)

More MFF!
Yay back from MFF, and straight back to crazy work before FC. Some quick snaps from the past weekend. With everyones need to keep suits secret untill their debut, it's typically after cons where I can finally say "Hey, lookit!" MFF was a freakin blast, as expected. :)

Still need some good snaps of Yag's new Halrequin Fox and Miwako's Bear. Seen are Baja's new Dutch Shep 'Taka', IpQuey's surfer coony, and a random pic of Seraph, Chance, and Kaymin. Anyone wanting to post up new pics, feel free to do so here in the reply sections ^.^

The pics are taken from Frysco's archive and respect to their owners. Check the archive here:

Sidney the Kidney
New mascot for the Kidney Foundation of Canada. He was unveiled at the annual conference here in Vancouver this past weekend. The stencils for the name on the belly, and the foundation's logo across the back took a bit of time, but I'm pleased with how sharply it came out on the lycra. His peanut-shaped body is an updated version of the foam shell. Weight is about the same as before, but the structure is a lot more solid. Only one hoop was needed, and only so the support straps could be placed. The effect is a large scale hugable character that will pop back into shape.

I'm gaining more confidence with the bizzare body shapes and styles, and the various materials and ethods used to achieve them. Next corporate contracts in the works are Manitoba Telecom, the City of New Westminster, and another costume for Rickers Oil. Fandom suits completed soon are Yag and Miwaku. Then starting on Baja, fEk and Jer to wrap up Octobers list of things to do.

Also have to start promoting one of our tailors up to manager, as we've hired 2 new people. It's gotten to the strange stage where I'm both a designer, as well as a coach. It's making me kinda nervous, but I we have a gameplan and the rest of the team is on board with it. Lets just see where it all goes :D

And a big thanks to CodyDawg for translating the Arend website into German and now Dutch as well :) *knuddels*

Weasle Posting
Finally got some good pics of Vin Weasel from EFF13's photoshoot :) The padding on this suit was intense, the crotch was lowered by 18", and the hugely proportioned legs. Was experimenting with reticulated foam and the result was what I had hoped for. Reticulated foam ain't cheap though. Geezus no. Basically a hollow shell and a tight fitting torso. Sorta designed it in my head alongside some handy 3D renderings and it came together on the first try. Minor tweaks aside, very pleased with it and how well he can move and articulate the body.

Oh, and squeaker hunting is dangerous with weasels about ;)

Currently working on projects for YagFox, Miwako, and the BC Kidney Foundation. In cue we have Blitz Media, BajaYeena, fEk n Jer, Pup, and Emjen . That should round out October quite nicely. Have some pics from new works to post, will do that after the current project crunch is over, say Thursday or so. :D

Shop will be closed on Friday for a business seminar (Fri-Sat) and we will be having an in-house traning day on one of those days as well.

At this time, all available spots of FC have been presold. Should new spaces become available, I'll post something up :)
